Cats Break Into ESPN’s Top 25

Recruiting has been the buzz since joker Phillips has taken over the helm of the Big Blue and with the recent commitment of Zach West, Kentucky has broken into ESPN’s Top 25 recruiting classes for 2011.

Yeah, it’s still early and the rankings will probably change a hundred times, but this is big news for UK and a program trying to take the next step…

Here is a quick snapshot of where UK finished in the National Rankings over the last seven years, this is according to Rivals.com.

2010 :: 50th
2009 :: 41st
2008 :: 57th
2007 :: 54th
2006 :: 36th
2005 :: 67th
2004 :: 45th

The Cats best finish in prior years, was 36th in 2006. Anything in the Top 30 would be a major accomplishment for Joker and the program. For the Cats to be consistent competitors in the SEC east, Top 20 recruiting classes are a must.

N of B has conducted a study of the recruiting classes over the last seven years and compared those rankings to how teams ended in the SEC East, what we found was the rankings in recruiting stood true in how teams finished in the East, year in and year out. Look for that study and our thoughts over the weekend.

For now, Coach Phillips and Operation Win is winning. Ultimately, success or failure will be determined by the win and loss columns, but for now you have to like the direction UK Football is headed…

Go Cats!!!
