All the attention over the last couple of days in the UK recruiting world is on the power forward position, and all of the news really has me wondering. Are all of the names coming out of the woodwork goint to have a legit shot at playing for Kentucky, or is this smoke to hide the fire? The fire, of course, being Terrence Jones. The smoke at this point is Kadeem Jack, Remi Dibo, Kyle Cain, and Royce Wright.
These are a list of power forwards who haven’t been on the Kentucky radar until Jones pulled a Favre a couple of weeks ago. Now this could be a legitimate quest to fill a gaping hole on the court, or it could also be a misdirection play on the part of the coaching staff. Everyone knows Terrence Jones called all 5 coaches after he put on the Washington hat, but no one really knows what was said during each phone call. Of course that leads to conjecture and rumors and a whole lot of nothing. So now we wait, wait, and wait some more for Jones to officially tell the world again which College he is going to attend.
We are not the only ones waiting either. Chris Hill is also waiting. Business has really picked up for Hill as Rutgers and North Carolina have started heavily recruiting him. Hill has been waiting for the chance to commit to Kentucky, but with all of the waiting on Jones he is getting restless along with the the Big Blue Nation. I personally think Hill would be a great fit for the DDM, and with Amare Stoudamire being his first cousin and Jerry Stackhouse being his godfather, it could add more big name status to an already impressive list of celebrity to help recruit for Kentucky in the future.
I am expecting another exciting week of new power forward recruit names and maybe Terrence Jones will finally spill the beans. We also might find out if Kentucky is going to get a backup for Enes Kanter in the post. There are still rumors flying Kentucky is looking at a couple of JUCO centers, which in my opinion would have to be Kiel Turpin or Eloy Vargas.
