Calipari Donates $1M To Memphis Charity

Even with the Eric Bledsoe distraction, John Calipari still found time to give $1million to “Street Ministries”, a non-profit in Memphis TN. It’s nice to see that John still makes an effort to help out the city where he once lived.

Here’s an excerpt from the original article…
”When I’ve talked to Cal in the past, he said he’s probably given money back to every city he’s lived in,” Streets founder Ken Bennett said Tuesday. “He knows a lot more about Streets and our plans than maybe some of the other places he gives.”

“This is a validation of what Coach Cal thinks about Ken and the work Streets has done,” said John Wilfong, a Streets board member and former Tigers basketball player.
Here’s the Street Ministries Mission Statement. Sounds like a great organization…

Mission Statement
The mission of Streets Ministries is to serve impoverished youth in the Memphis metropolitan area by unconditionally representing the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed in such a way that underserved adolescents have the opportunity to see, hear, and respond to the Good News of the Gospel, and to be empowered to live a life of obedience to God.
