[B]John Calipari was about to speak[/B] to two dozen or so reporters in the hotel lobby at the SEC’s annual meetings when the stern voice of C.M. Newton said, “John.”
Newton was apparently trying to protect his former school from the group of media who are no doubt anxious to spew questions about Eric Bledsoe, scandals and other misguided attacks.

[I]“I’ll get you guys later. I’ve got to make calls,” Calipari said to about two-dozen reporters in the lobby. Before heading into the elevator for good, Calipari started to change his mind and walked toward us.[/I]

[I]Then a stern voice projected from the elevator.[/I]
[I]“John.”[/I]
[I]It appeared to be Newton, who was probably protecting his old school with this move.[/I]
