Canadian Five-star PF Khem Birch (#4 overall 2012) has committed to Pittsburgh. He told FoxSports “I chose Pittsburgh because I really feel comfortable with Coach (Pat) Skerry and Coach Dixon, and I feel that they can help me develop”. Birch had been considering Kentucky as well as Iowa, Ohio St, Pittsburgh, Providence, Saint John’s (NY), West Virginia, and Uconn.

This wasn’t a total surprise, as Birch and his Prep coach Ryan Hurd had visited Pitt earlier this month. Hurd had this to say after the visit:
“Khem has expressed a desire to take more ownership over his recruiting process,” Hurd said, “and obviously he has had interest in Pitt since Coach [Pat] Skerry left Providence, so this was a good opportunity for us to spend some time together and for him to see another campus.”

He would have been a great catch, but I’m sure Calipari will manage (somehow) to find comparable talent. Meanwhile, here’s some video of Khem Birch – just to tease you.
