Brandon Knight has been brought up to put more attention on his academics than anything else. And up to this point in his life, he has done just that. Brandon enters his freshman year at Kentucky with a years worth of college classes and no signs of slowing down. It seems as if Knight has set his goal on graduating in 2 years. Could that make Brandon more than a one and done player? I think so.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Larry Vaught brought us some interesting insight into Knight. During the interview, Knight says that he would be proud to graduate in two years, but he wouldn’t satisfied with just that. Not being satisfied is what keeps him pushing to be better.
“I went to one of the best academic schools in the nation to be honest. It kind of prepared me for the next level and continued to push me academically. It prepared me for what I have to do in college and will make things easier.”
We all know that Brandon was one of the top recruits of 2010 and we all know that he is academically focused. The question is will his focus on academics be the determining factor into the length of his career at Kentucky?
“When I was younger, you become what you are taught. They [his parents] taught me the importance of academics and as I got older, they started riding me less and less. It eventually became a part of how I was. It just became if I didn’t do well, I was upset myself. They didn’t have to get on me. It was part of me and stuck with me.
“Now I try my best in school and if I don’t do well, I am upset with myself. That is why I am always trying to achieve an A. It’s the same thing on the court with always trying to do the best I can.”
I look for Brandon Knight to stick with the Wildcats for at least two years, maybe longer if it takes him longer to earn his degree. I could eat my words as the money and fame that comes with the NBA is awfully tempting, but I’m banking on Knights words.
