Boost Mobile Elite 24 Recap

The 2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24 was a star studded event with some of the Top Players from both the 2011 and 2012 recruiting classes.

The highlight of the event was Jesuit High School’s Kyle Wiltjer’s shocking commitment to Kentucky and Coach Calipari.

For a young man who has never set foot in Lexington, to commit on National TV surprised everyone. Here are some of the tweets that followed after Wiltjer said Kentucky:

UKCoachCalipari | While at the event to honor Rich Brooks, I went into the VP’s office. Guess what? He had the TV on ESPNU. I think I jumped about 31 inches.

YucciMane | Terrence Jones and Kyle Wiltjer = Portland’s Bird and Magic lol

goodmanonfox | Kyle Wiltjer just committed to Kentucky. Go ahead & mark the Wildcats down as preseason No. 1 in 2011. This recruiting class is tremendous.

goodmanonfox | Kentucky will be scary good in 2011.

C2CRecruiting | John Calipari and the UK staff now playing : Kanye West Power.

goodmanonfox | Pencil Kentucky In As 2011 Preseason Numero Uno.

TheRecruitScoop | While it is surprising that Kyle Wiltjer committed to Kentucky without taking a visit, it just shows you how good Coach Calipari & staff are

EvanDanielscout | Just got this from a high major coach referring to Kentucky: “Nuclear bombs compared to rifles for everyone else!”

GaryParrishCBS | Kyle Wiltjer just announced for Kentucky. That’s four top 20 prospects for UK, which is assured of the nation’s top class again.
With the commitment of Wiltjer, UK possibly has the strongest class since the 2005 Class of Ohio State when Thad Matta brought in Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Daequan Cook and David Lighty, three of which are current NBA Players.

Wiltjer showed his versatility during the 2010 Elite 24 game as he led all Players in scoring with 20 and was named co-MVP.

The Raymond Lewis Squad with Head Coach Reggie Morris and Assistant Coach John Wall, defeated the Marques Johnson Squad with head Coach Derrick Taylor and Assistant Coach Brandon Jennings, 131-128.

The Boost Mobile Elite 24 event was televised live on ESPNU and, in case you missed it, will re-air Monday, Aug. 30 at 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 1:00 p.m., both on ESPNU.

The game looked like an NBA All-Star game with each member highlighting their dunking ability up until the last couple of minutes when defense became important and the Lewis squad held on to win.

In the end, the night once again belonged to Kentucky as Wiltjer stole the co-MVP and Kentucky grabbed it’s fourth Top 20 recruit of the 2011 Class.
