Bob Knight says Anthony Davis is a Young Bill Russell

ESPN the Magazine’s June 25th issue will have a very interesting piece on Anthony Davis and the debate if he is the next Bill Russell.

There are several quotes from several supposed experts, including former Indiana coach Bobby Knight.

Does this quote surprise you as much as it does me?
”I’ll tell you exactly what Anthony Davis is — he’s a young Bill Russell … And Russell was by far, and will always be, the most valuable player ever in sport.” — Bob Knight, former college coach

I guess since Anthony Davis doesn’t play for Kentucky anymore Bob Knight can talk about the future #1 pick without saying the college he played for.

The quote that really blows my mind in this article is from DraftExpress.com’s Joseph Givony:
”If he was a guard,” Givony says, “he wasn’t a very good guard. There’s a reason he didn’t have any [major] offers before he grew.”

And if I wasn’t 36 years old and could jump higher than 3 inches I could dunk the ball too.

What is the point of that comment?

The article is generally a good read, but in my opinion on Davis being the next Bill Russell, tell me how many rings he has on his hand at the end of his career.

When I think of Bill Russell, I think of NBA Championships.
