Boatright to West Virginia… Hold That Thought

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that 4-star PG Ryan Boatright (2011) has de-committed from West Virginia after just committing on Monday. I’m actually not surprised, as 3-star PG Jabarie Hinds (2011) committed to West Virginia on Tuesday. I remember reading one of the articles about Hinds’ commitment and it said “I’ll bet Boatright didn’t expect another PG to commit the day after he did.” I’ll bet he didn’t indeed.

You could chalk this up to Boatright not thinking things through in the first place, this isn’t his first de-commit. Ryan committed to USC and decommitted when the head coach resigned. Of this current de-commitment, his mother said
”We are thinking about it and trying to accept it as a family.”
(source)

I however, think the current de-commitment has more to do with Hinds’ verbal than anything else. Adam Zagoria reports that when Hinds committed to WV on Tuesday, he said both PGs could play together
“…you can’t do it by yourself. You need other players around you. So that should be a good thing.”
(source)
Evidently, Boatright didn’t see it that way.
