Bledsoe Against the Timberwolves

Eric Bledsoe had 10 points total against Minnesota last night. He went 2 of 7 from the field including 0 of 2 from 3-point range in his 35 minutes of play. The rest of his stat line included 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 turnovers. Bledsoe was also 6 of 6 on free-throws.

That’s actually pretty normal for Eric this season. Over the first 12 games, he’s averaging 9.9 points on 47% shooting (33% from 3-point) and 80% from the charity stripe. That’s only good enough for 26th among Point Guards this year, but there’s more to running the point than scoring (even Rajon Rondo is only 23rd in scoring). He’s also averaging 5.2 assists per game, 1.2 steals, .58 blocks (3rd among PGs), 3.1 turnovers and 3.7 rebounds (10th among PGs).

Bledsoe is going to be very good in the NBA. I know it’s easy to look at these numbers and not be overly impressed, but remember he was the back up until about a week ago. The fact that he’s top 10 for the season in blocked shots and rebounds when compared to all of the other team’s season-long starters bodes well for his future. Bledsoe and the Clippers face the Pacers tonight at Conseco Fieldhouse (7:00 ET tipoff).
