In almost exactly 72 hours Big Blue Madness will begin and all of the hype and excitement surrounding the Number 2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats will commence. I am so EXCITED!
I’ve only attended two previous Midnight/Big Blue Madness events and that is over the last two years. Like all other fans I grew up watching these on TV with my family, staying up late to see the kick off of the basketball season. On the mornign of Madness you wake up like a kid on Christmas, heck, you might not even be able to sleep the night before! Some people take off work to make a long drive to the blue grass, others might have to work but obsess over Kentucky websites all day to see who the latest recruit or celebrity will be making an appearance.
Big Blue Madness has turned into a hot ticket since Calipari has been here. With a record crowd (570 tents) camping out for three nights just to get a ticket and Celebs like Drake, Josh Hopkins, Jay Z, and Lebron James coming out of the wood-work to cheer on the blue….there is no program in the country that can compare to this madness.
I have to say that my favorite memory….and maybe it is because it was the hope of Cal and the excitement of John Wall mixed with the misery of Gillisipie….but I will never forget when Wall came out and did his dance….the dance that took over not only the big blue nation but the entire world.
