BatCats lose 2nd game of the series to the Vols 8-6.

While everyone here in Kentucky was watching Derby festivities on TV, the BatCats were in Knoxville playing the 2nd game of their series with Tennessee.

Kentucky is now 24-19 (7-13) and Tennessee is 23-21 (7-13) after losing 8-6 to UT.

Taylor Rogers started for Kentucky going 7 innings; allowed 8 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strike outs. Rogers is one of my favorite Kentucky pitchers, along with Logan Darnell and Walter Wijas.

Last night the homeruns were flying in our favor, but it was not a slugfest tonight as each team only hit 2 a piece.

Tennessee scored first off of a homerun by PJ Polk in the first inning. The Vols then put up 4 runs in the 2nd inning with a RBI single by Polk and a 3 run homer by Cody Hawn.

Kentucky finally scored a run in the 4th inning when Lance Ray hit a homerun. Later in the inning Andy Burns would get a run on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the 4th Polk hit another RBI single giving the Vols a 6-2 lead.

In the 5th inning Gunner Glad hit a homerun cutting the Tennessee lead back to 3.

Chad Wright hit a double, 2 RBI in the 6th and then gunner Glad hit a triple, RBI to tie the game at 6-6.

In the bottom of the 8th inning UT scored 2 runs giving them a 2 run lead. Kentucky would go on to lose 8-6.

Looks like the BatCats will keep their Fadeaway Cats name for awhile.

The last game of the series will be played tomorrow at 3pm, the game will be on TV on SportsSouth (not sure what channel that is).
