We blogged on the Jelan Kendrick situation here last Saturday. I had stated that Kentucky would be mentioned in his recruitment, so I should probably say first off: I TOLD YOU SO! With that off my chest, the original writer who broke the story (Dan Wolken) tweeted earlier today that Kendrick to Kentucky is not an option according to ‘a source close to the situation’. Of course, he’s the same one who tweeted that Kentucky would be an option, so take both with a grain of salt. I’m not that familiar with Mr. Wolken and I don’t know his source, but I hope he’s correct this time. The sooner Georgia Tech or someone else signs Kendrick, the better as far as I’m concerned.
We also blogged on Adjehi Baru last Thursday. I had stated that Kentucky originally showed ‘heavy interest’, but when Baru released his list of top 4 schools, Kentucky was not it. Evidently that hasn’t dimmed UK’s interest in him, as one of the coaches was at Baru’s practice yesterday. Kentucky could always use a good big man, and Calipari’s recruiting prowess extends far beyond U.S. borders (Baru is from the Ivory Coast, the same area as 2010 PF Remi Dibo – remember him?).
Still no word on Trevor Lacey, and I still don’t think Michael Chandler will be a Cat (rumor is, he’s a UConn lean). If anything changes on those fronts, we’ll let you know.
