The NCAA is investigating Baylor for dozens of texts to Hanner Perea’s AAU and high school coaches while they were coaching events. Hanner Perea is a 5-star PF in the class of 2012. FoxSports.com broke that story this morning.

A new book out by Sports Illustrated writer George Dohrmann is claiming that UCLA coach Ben Howland “…committed an NCAA violation by making a phone call to the father of guard Roberto Nelson during a month when he had already spoken to Nelson. Howland was limited to one call that month to the recruit and his family.“ Nelson was a 4-star SG in the class of 2009. Howland is denying the violation, of course. ESPN.com broke that story yesterday.

Dohrmann’s book also claims that Ohio State committed an NCAA violation in recruiting the same Roberto Nelson when former Ohio State player Clark Kellogg spoke with Nelson’s father and “lobbied on behalf of his alma mater.” The Columbus Dispatch broke that story Monday.

And of course we are well aware of the UConn and Tennessee incidents where the NCAA actually found Jim Calhoun and Bruce Pearl at fault for recruiting violations. As much as the NY Times writes about recruiting violations, you would expect to see these stories addressed by their sports writer – but you won’t. You can only see them here. Well, and on FoxSports.com. Annnndddd the Columbus Dispatch. Okay, you’ll find them pretty much everywhere… except the [STRIKE]Kentucky Recruiting Nazis[/STRIKE] NY Times.
