Game ten of the season is under the belt and the Wildcats didn’t disappoint, either on the scoreboard or in the eyes of Head Coach Matthew Mitchell.
“We are very happy to win tonight and very pleased with our players’ intensity to come out and stay mentally focused over 40 minutes. They just kept plugging and working really hard. I was very, very pleased with that. Really happy for them and it was a good night for us.”

Kentucky came into last nights game a heavy favorite over Arkansas Pine Bluff. The Cats (9-1) didn’t disappoint as they defeated the Golden Lions (0-8), 107-35.
UK had four players in double figures with Keyla Snowden leading all scorers with 28. A’dia Mathies poured in 16, Bernisha Pinkett had 14 and All-American Victoria Dunlap had 11.
Kentucky will have a few days off going into the holiday, and will hit the hardwood again on December 29, as Middle Tennessee State comes to Lexington.
Between now and then, lets take a look at the numbers that mattered:
100: Tonight’s win marked the 100th for Coach Matthew Mitchell. Coach Mitchell is now 100-70 overall and 70-41 at Kentucky. Expect that number to grow at a rapid pace as he continues to develop a growing Kentucky program. Proof, besides last season’s Elite 8 appearance and this years #11 ranking, is the fact that he signed Kentucky’s first 5-star recruit this year. Congrats Coach Mitchell.
72: The third largest winning margin in the history of Kentucky Women’s Basketball.
41:The number of turnovers forced by Kentucky. It’s a season-high, the most since UK swiped 40 against Mississippi Valley State on Jan. 1, 2010. It was two turnovers shy of the school-record 43 set against Winthrop on Jan. 3, 2000.
23: The number of consecutive wins at Memorial Coliseum. The Cats are now 332-139 (70.5) all-time in Memorial Coliseum, including 42-10 (80.7) under Coach Mitchell. The home winning streak is the school’s second-longest and ranks eighth nationally.
35: The number of games where Kentucky has broken the century mark. It’s also the number of victories Kentucky has when breaking the century mark. The UAPB game is the first time UK breached the 100 point mark since scoring 101 points against Louisville, Dec. 20, 2009. Simple plan for the future, score 100+ in every game and the UCONN streak will be a walk in the park
233: The number of consecutive games where Kentucky has made at least one 3-pointer, dating back to the 2003-04 season. The Cats had a season high 10 3-pointers against UAPB, the most three-pointers in a game for Kentucky since hitting 12 vs. Miami (Ohio) on Dec. 1, 2009. Kentucky shot 43.5% from behind the arc.
19: UAPB’s score until they made a 2-point basket at the 9:02 mark of the second half. Kentucky held UAPB scoreless for 9:28 of the second half. UK held UAPB scoreless for the first 5:09 of the first half.
16: A season-high number of steals. With last nights accomplishment, Kentucky has now recorded double-digit steals in 16 of its last 19 games. It’s the most steals since recording 16 vs. Liberty on March 20, 2010 in the NCAA Tournament. It’s the most steals in a regular-season game since snatching 20 vs. Mississippi Valley State on Jan. 1, 2010. Dunlap and Evans led UK with 5 steals each.
Until next time, Go Cats!!!
