In what some might call today’s game the last appetizer before the main course, the Cats look to continue their undefeated streak in conference play today against the South Carolina Gamecocks before heading into the meat and potatoes of the schedule.
So far Kentucky has essentially annihilated the weaker competition in the SEC, but still has difficult match-ups with Florida, Vandy and Mississippi State on the schedule…..playing both the Gators and Commodores TWICE. While I’m not too worried, as I feel like at most they’ll drop two (if any), it will be interesting to see how these young Cats react to the filet mignon of the SEC conference schedule.
This Kentucky team is just beginning to reach their stride….how scary is that? Their potential is sky high and if I were any other team come NCAA tournament time, they would be the number one team I would not want to play. When the Cats are hitting on all cylinders (which has yet to truly happen) they ARE unbeatable.
Terrence Jones is back, Darius Miller is stepping up with his senior leadership, Davis and MKG have been the epitome of consistentcy and Doron Lamb is still the king of the 3-goggles. Last but not least, Marquis Teague has learned how to be a true point guard by finding his teammates and cutting down on his turnovers. Teague is maturing more than anyone else on this team and it’s not a fluke that his growth over the last few weeks is the reason we have seen these dominating performances.
This is it ladies and gentlemen, the final stretch is upon us. This is what Kentucky fans live and die for, the possibility of a national championship. The road is not easy, but the Cats simply need to finish their dinner in order to earn their dessert.
GO. CATS.
