Anthony Davis to Kentucky?

If you have been keeping with AAU this summer, then you already know who Anthony Davis is. He has already had Coach Cal, Coach Antigua, and Coach Payne in the seats to watch him play. By the way, they were all there at the same time. You think Kentucky wants Anthony Davis? Davis is potentially the #1 player in the nation, and his dramatic rise has a lot to do with him growing 7 inches over the last year. The 6’8″ forward, who used to play guard, has the ballhanding and skill set to play several spots on the floor. CollegiateHoops.com looks at the possibility of Davis going to Kentucky.

So unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know who is after him. Yes, John Calipari the Head Coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.

Coach Calipari has always been a favorable coach to prospects. He lures them in with the chance to compete at the NBA level. At every school he has coached at, Calipari no doubt has produced NBA talent.

That is what opened Davis’ eyes about Coach Calipari. When asked about what he likes about Kentucky, Davis replied “Coach Cal, he is a great coach. In the previous draft, they had five of their players go to the draft. So that’s really an eye-catcher.”

He followed up by saying “and that’s one of my goals, to go to the draft. Not just go to the draft but make it to the league.”

Davis has yet to visit Kentucky but plans to next school year. He limited his list to three schools and Kentucky is amongst them. To many other recruiting experts, Davis is heavily favoring Kentucky. But you never know.

I still think the most interesting story out of the Davis recruitment is how it effects Quincy Miller’s decision. It would almost unreal if Cal could get both, and along with Gilchrist and Teague, the 2011 class could blow every other recruiting class out of the water. Should be another recruiting season, as I guess they will be for now on.
