Another Roster Spot Open?

If you watched the Jordan Brand Classic last night you got to hear Jimmy Dykes use his lingo and excitement to describe a somewhat boring game. The one thing I did take notice of him saying is he thinks Darnell Dodson will not come back to Kentucky.

Dodson has been somewhat of an enigma thoughout the season. He started out the season looking as if he would be a perfect fit for the DDM, attacking the rim and hitting three point shots. At one point in the season he was starting before Darius Miller and it looked like Dodson had settled in to his role. Then came the time where he was straddled to the bench and wasn’t getting any playing time at all. Rumors swirled on why Dodson wasn’t playing. After his time regulated to the bench, he came back to a reserve role and did a good job of hitting a 3 when we really didn’t need them. He couldn’t hit the big shot. His time got less and less time as the season winded down, partly to Darius finally hitting his stride in the starting lineup.

Now the season is over and Dodson looks as if he going the way of Roderick Rhodes and Rashaad Caruth. Another kid who got to play at the University of Kentucky, saw time, and then disappeared off the Big Blue Radar. Kentucky will have 5 spots open after Dodson is officially gone. The question now is will Cal fill all 5 spots or will he leave a couple open for the mighty 2011 class? We should all know in the next couple of months.
