Alan Cutler and Josh Harrellson

Yesterday, Alan Cutler of LEX18 provided some insight from Josh Harrellson into his season so far and Billy G. Harrellson has had the best season of his career including what I consider to be the best game in a UK uniform last week against Indiana. Josh scored 14 points, had 12 rebounds and actually was a presence in the paint.
”I couldn’t be a coach,” says Josh whose coming off a double-double, 14 points and 12 rebounds against Indiana.

“I mean I probably could, I just don’t want to be a coach.”

Too nice of a guy?

“Yeah. I couldn’t yell at anybody.”

Are you the best looking guy on the team?

“Oh yeah, by far.”

Josh is the class clown whose come a long way. There is a bond between Darius Miller, DeAndre Liggins and Josh that they will always understand. They survived Billy Gillispie. When Billy G. was their coach, he made Josh sit in the bathroom because of a bad first half against Vandy. Josh was more than just frustrated. If Josh could ask Billy G. one thing from his time as his coach.

“Why he did that to me at Vandy.”

“I saw him after he got fired, we talked, we were great friends again. Just how he recruited me, laughing and having fun. I saw him at a wedding, he was a great guy. When you are not talking to him about basketball, he is a great guy to be around. A great guy to know. But, when he talking about basketball and he’s coaching you he’s tough to get along with. He is one of the smartest coaches I’ve ever been around. He kind of had a different way of coaching that nobody understood or liked.”

Josh has always battled Josh. He’s never felt good about himself. Now, with an NBA scout telling Cal he likes him, it boosts Josh’s ego and self pride.

“Since I started playing everyone has always seen something in me that I have never seen. They say I’m really good, but sometimes I don’t show it. I don’t think of myself of being that good. When you get NBA scouts talking about you it makes you feel a lot better.”
