Earlier today, Evan Daniels fueled what soon turned into a huge fire on Twitter, when he publicized an AAU coach’s comment on not to shake the opposing team’s hands.
AAU coach to his team: “Do not shake hands.”
Many basketball-related people (and even everyday fans) were bewildered by this comment that Louisville’s Finest coach, Josh Slonim, said.
However, the perception Daniels gave it took it completely out of context.
Slonim quickly had this to say after the final buzzer of his controversial game on Twitter.
”I was NOT telling my kids not to shake hands, I wanted them on the bench because the game was not over in my mind given the circumstances.”
“I have complete respect for those kids on the other team and we shook all of their hands once the ordeal was over.”
“In regards to the refs and the referee director Ron Dixon, I have little respect for how it was handled.”
When I swapped texts with Slonim earlier today, he said he had spoken to Daniels and the whole circumstance was resolved.
“(Daniels) wasn’t aware of the circumstances earlier, but I spoke with him and we cleared things up,” the AAU coach explained.
It looks like things are softening out now, but this is another example of how the media can damage a person’s image. Slonim meant nothing toward the other team, he was just anticipating more to come from the game.
There will be more articles regarding this event soon.
