This is the 2nd installment of a 3 part series of a look at the Kentucky running back upperclassmen as we look at junior Raymond Sanders.

In Raymond’s freshman season, he played in 12 games with 1 start, rushing for a total of 254 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield.

In his sophomore season, Raymond saw a lot let playing time rushing for 155 yards on 40 carries in only 6 games. The reason for the diminished playing time was due to a knee injury during the season and had to have arthroscopic knee surgery.

Sanders size has always been a concern for me for a running back in the SEC. Taking the beating every weekend will wreak havoc on a body, and already having a prior injury, it is more likely to happen.

If the freshman running backs, Justin Taylor and Dy’Shawn Mobley, are as good as advertised Sanders could find himself on the outside looking in.

With as much hype as Joker put on Raymond early on his career, and the proficiency he has shown catching the ball out of the backfield, maybe the junior can find his niche and give the Kentucky offense some versatility.

Here is what Raymond thinks about the current Kentucky backfield and the upcoming season:
