With Trevor Lacey’s announcement of his college choice tomorrow, I started thinking about all the quotes and stories that we have read and I thought I would put all of them in this article to show how many times a recruitment can change at the drop of a hat.

I have ordered them by date:

Feb. 20th, 2011: In a quick turn of events, Trevor Lacey has decided to change his college list.Chris Fisher of 24/7 is reporting that Lacey’s father William Pride said that his son has replaced Kansas with Baylor on his final list of schools. The other schools on the list joining the Bears are Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, and Connecticut.

Trevor Lacey was in Rupp Arena yesterday to watch the Kentucky Wildcats destroy South Carolina. He picked a great time to be in attendance as it was the 2nd largest crowd of the season and Jodie Meeks, Patrick Patterson, and Anthony Davis were all there as well.He has also taken visits to Alabama and Auburn in the past couple of weeks and probably isn’t finished checking out college campuses just yet.Greg Ostendorf of TideSports.com thinks the reigning Alabama Mr. Basketball will also visit Connecticut and Kansas before he makes his decision in the spring.

Feb. 23, 2011: Today, just two days later, Dave Telep of ESPN.com is reporting that Kansas is still sticking around. Here is the excerpt from Telep:
Last weekend, Trevor Lacey (Huntsville, Ala./Butler), the top available player in the ESPNU 100, visited Kentucky unofficially. He’s had a big senior season and lists UK, Kansas, Alabama, Connecticut and Oklahoma as his favorites. So far, he’s only seen Alabama (twice) and Kentucky, but hasn’t taken a single official visit.

Feb. 25, 2011:A report appearing in the Cullman Times stated “Lacey, a 6-foot-4 guard who has signed with Kentucky, hit 9-of-13 from the field and sank 5-of-12 3-pointers.” Obviously he has not signed with Kentucky as players cannot sign until National Signing Day in April. Garrett Tucker of NationofBlue.com spoke to Lacey this morning and he confirmed that he has not signed or committed to Kentucky.

Feb. 27, 2011: Lacey said he’s going to take the ACT on April 9 because he wants to get a higher score and make it easier to pass the NCAA Clearinghouse. His dad said he thinks it’s “a done deal” he’ll qualify. However, William Pride added, he has talked to experts about overseas basketball to give his son an option if he doesn’t make a high enough score.

March 2, 2011: Despite the rumors, Lacey has continued to persevere and he strongly believes he will meet the requirements to go to college and play basketball. Once again, he is defending himself, as he talked with TideSports.com’s Greg Ostendorf today after his game. This is what he had to say:”I just have to get that ACT score where it needs to be,” Lacey said. It’s not bad, but as far as the clearinghouse looking funny at it, I don’t want any of that. With the score I have, I can get through, but they just want to make it where it’s clear.”

March 26, 2011: The buzz today was Trevor Lacey had dropped Kentucky off his list and was going to decide between Alabama and Auburn. Well, Trevor says that isn’t true. I got a call from Trevor this evening and he wanted to set things straight with what a source told Nation of Blue’s Garrett Tucker.Trevor said that he hasn’t dropped Kentucky off of his list and that he will be deciding between Alabama and Kentucky. He said that he was really excited by the tournament run that Kentucky was on.
Trevor said that Coach Orlando Antigua called him Monday to see how things were going. I asked Trevor if Brandon Knight staying or going would influence his decision and he said,” I know I wouldn’t get as much playing time, but that still doesn’t influence my decision.”

April 3, 2011: I spoke to Trevor Lacey yesterday before the Final Four and he said that the report from the Huntsville Times yesterday is false.Al.com had this statement in an article about Anthony Grant:
Blue-chip guard Trevor Lacey will announce his choice on April 13. Kentucky had been in the picture, but the latest indications are that Lacey will choose between Alabama and Auburn.
Trevor said that Kentucky and Alabama are still his top 2 and that is the teams he will be deciding between.
Obviously, the hometown media is trying to pressure Lacey to stay in state and keeps trying to pit the 2 in-state schools as his leaders.
Trevor was really perplexed how people keep putting Auburn into the mix as one of his top schools.
On a side note, Trevor was really excited for the Kentucky game and just hearing his voice you could tell he was excited.

April 7, 2011: The Trevor Lacey sweepstakes are over. Lacey will announce his college decision when Butler High School celebrates its Class 4A boys basketball title on April 22. The school is considering moving the event to next Tuesday.Only Lacey and Butler coach Jack Doss know where Lacey will commit. They aren’t telling anyone, not even Lacey’s parents, William Pride and Freda Lacey.

April 11, 2011: Greg Ostendorf of Alabama Rivals tweeted out last night that he will visit Alabama’s A-Day. He also reported that Lacey did not visit anywhere this weekend, but he stayed in Huntsville to take the ACT again.

April 12, 2011: Butler coach Jack Doss said he talked to Lacey on Monday afternoon and Lacey told him he won’t announce his college decision until after he returns from playing in the April 22 Derby Festival Basketball Classic in Louisville.

April 15, 2011: John Calipari was not able to visit 2011 recruit Trevor Lacey this morning as planned due to severe weather in the area. The Kentucky head coach could not fly in due to the weather and then Lacey had to leave for his visit to Alabama. The visit has been rescheduled and Calipari will visit after Lacey’s trip to Alabama.

April 17, 2011: Coach Cal had an in-home visit with Trevor Lacey today. Bill Self is coming tomorrow.

April 19, 2011: Describing the time spent with Self as “awesome,” Lacey’s father, William Pride, told Rivals.com that his son will make an official visit to KU on April 29-30 or the following weekendUntil recently, Alabama had been considered the heavy favorite to land the No. 34-rated Lacey, who reportedly is intrigued by the possibility of significant playing time as a freshman at a national power such as KU.

April 22, 2011: Trevor plays in Derby Classic and says he felt the love from the Kentucky fans.

April 25, 2011: Conflicting reports come out that Trevor is going to visit Kentucky and Kansas on the same weekend…it ends up being Kansas.

April 28th, 2011: Trevor Lacey is in Auburn for an official visit.

April 30, 2011: 2011 shooting guard Trevor Lacey was scheduled to visit Kansas this weekend, as the Jayhawks are one of the final teams in his list. However, according to KUTheShiver, those plans have been canceled because of the outbreak of tornadoes that pummeled the state of Alabama.
“Lacey did not make it to Kansas because of tornadoes back home”

May 2, 2011: 2011 star Trevor Lacey is leaving today for an official visit to the University of Kentucky.

According to Lacey via text, he has already rescheduled his visit to Kansas for this weekend (May 6th-8th).Lacey hopes to make his final college decision within the next few weeks after making trips to Kentucky and Kansas.

May 7, 2011: There is talk he might give NC State a look sometime next week.

May 9, 2011: Trevor’s father said there will be no more visits after Kansas.

May 11, 2011: It is reported by most of the media that Lacey is down to three teams: Kentucky, Kansas, and Alabama.

May 16, 2011: Trevor Lacey’s dad said he’s really struggling with decision and might not be ready to announce on Wedneday.

May 17, 2011: Anthony Wireman spoke to Trevor Lacey last night and he said he intends to announce his college decision on Wednesday as planned.

“Discombobulated’’ is the term his father, William Pride, used to describe his son as Wednesday’s 2 p.m. announcement at Butler’s library neared.“He’s just confused,’’ said Pride. “He got to see these universities with big-time basketball, and it just kind of blew him away. This is life-changing, and he’s just really confused.’’ While many reports have Lacey choosing between Alabama, Kansas and Kentucky, he’s never ruled out Auburn and UConn from his original list of favorites.(Source:Al.com)

I have probably left some stuff out, but you get my point on how crazy recruiting is.
Trevor has been on a roller coaster since February, and hopefully it will come to an end tomorrow.
