A Good Week for Daniel Orton

Daniel Orton has made waves with fans during the weeks leading up to the draft and even for a few days after being selected 29th by the Orlando Magic. It seems however that things are getting brighter for Orton who has made some unexpected news a few times this week. Some of it may not have went as well as hoped.

[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]Putting a band-aid over the wound doesn’t always stop the bleeding. Orton posted an apology to UK fans via Twitter during which he owned up to some mistakes made at school while explaining how his comments were misunderstood regarding Kansas. Some fans seemingly accepted that he made some mistakes and will forgive and forget. Others continue to hold the grudge and claim that entering the NBA was a mistake.

It now seems as though Orton was able to smash a little egg into the face of those that thought entering the NBA was a mistake. Of the five Wildcats drafted, he is the first one to finalize his deal with his new team and sign his contract. Last year, the 29th pick signed their contract for $830,200 for their first year in the NBA and Orton is expected to have signed his for every bit that amount.

Orton also signed with an agent this week, the day after his Twitter apology. That makes you wonder if the tweet was genuine or sent under the guidance of the new agency. I guess it really doesn’t matter at this point. His new team who also sports blue has surely given him a good start in his adult life by giving him the opportunity to make a lot of green. Despite the past, I hope only good things come to Orton and everyone around him. Time will tell.
