A 2010 Kentucky Football Prediction

Football season is approaching fast and everyone is trying to figure out where the CATS will finish this season. Many fans wish the home schedule had more marquee games this season. However, the weaker than usual schedule should help Joker Phillips ensure UK makes it to another bowl game this season.
Offense: The passing game should be better in 2010 whether Mike Hartline or Morgan Newton is taking the snaps. Both of these quarterbacks will benefit from a talented stable of weapons. Wide receiver Randall Cobb is one of those weapons. Cobb is a dangerous playmaker as a receiver, return man and quarterback in the “Wild Cobb” offense. Tailback Derrick Locke leads the ground attack. He is coming off a season in which he rushed for 907 yards and six touchdowns.

Defense: Stopping the run figures to be no easier this season with an inexperienced and undersized front seven. Defensive end DeQuin Evans, who returns after a six-sack campaign, and freshman outside linebacker Qua Huzzie are two players to watch up front. Despite the loss of Lindley, the secondary should remain a strength with Paul Warford, Randall Burden and Winston Guy returning. The program is expecting breakout years from both Burden and Guy.

Prediction: 5th SEC East – Kentucky could get shut out by Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee for a fifth straight season. However, the Wildcats could still manage a fifth straight bowl game. All they need is a 6-6 season to become bowl eligible and that appears very likely after breaking down the schedule.
