Today the Kentucky softball team has defeated Michigan 7-6. This was in the NCAA regional in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a HUGE upset, as the Wolverines are ranked #10 in the country, with Kentucky being unranked. Michigan was 51-4 overall this season, while Kentucky was 37-14. That tied a program record for most wins in a season.
Chanda Bell was on the mound for Kentucky. She turned in 6 strong innings giving up only 1 run, but in the 7th inning, Michigan started to rally. Bell loaded the bases and gave up a gland slam, putting the Wolverines within 1. Kentucky was then able to seal the deal and get 3 consecutive outs.
Kentucky will play the winner of Michigan and Notre Dame tommorow at 1 PM in the regional finals. If the Cats were to lose tomorrow, they will play another game to determine the regional champion.
