Paxton Pitches Perfect Inning in Futures Game

The MLB Futures game is an all-star game that pits the best minor league players born in the U.S. against the best minor league players born outside the U.S. Two former Cats played in this year’s game (yesterday), Jason Kipnis and James Paxton. The former teammates played against each other with with Kipnis on the U.S. Team and Paxton (originally from Canada) on the World Team. Paxton only pitched one inning (as is customary in the all-star game), but he finished it with no hits, no runs and no walks (box score).

Paxton is signed with the Seattle Mariners’ organization and was recently promoted to AA Jackson. It will be interesting to see if he gets another promotion after his play at the Futures game.
