With Joker Phillips heading into his first season as a head coach, many people may believe he will bring the same stuff to the table just as when he was an offense coordinator these past few years. Well, think again! Along with Phillips is whole new staff ready to put their stamp on the team.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Let’s face it. Phillips’ dream for years has been to coach the Wildcats, so a lack of commitment and enthusiasm won’t be a problem. I like that, especially when I choose a team to be my NCAA Football Betting dark horse.
Kentucky needs fresh people and new ideas in the program as well as new ways to deal with recruits because every year it gets harder and harder to sign good prospects. I honestly believe that Phillips has the tools to be one of the best in this department.
“I love what those coaches bring to us,” Phillips said. “I wanted a guy that could recruit, wanted guys that had energy and some juice, and guys that can teach. They all have those things. I also knew what we were getting with Rock. I don’t know if the players did, but I did. All those guys are going to help us make a difference this season. We were more demanding on our kids in the off-season, because that’s what we felt we had to do to reach the next level.”
Joker Phillips has learned some things since he was here before. A program involves more than just coaching in the field. He is savvy too, because he is ready to enjoy a schedule that doesn’t seem as brutal as the last season where they faced Alabama and Florida in back to back weeks.
