It was a great Saturday for UK fans as the Football team held an open practice and autograph session. It’s known as “Fan Day” and it’s the UK Football equivalent of “Big Blue Madness”. You wont find players being dropped from the ceiling, fog machines, and fans camping out for weeks, but you will find some freshman who are ready to make a name for themselves.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
With Trevard Lindley leaving for the NFL and Paul Warford sitting out his senior year; the secondary is looking pretty thin. However, Coach Phillips seems pleased with what he’s seeing from our Freshman.

That didn’t preclude a few of them from catching the coach’s eye. He cited freshman defensive backs Jerell Priester, Eric Simmons and Dale Trimble as players who made an early impression.
“I think those guys have a chance to be really good players for us,” Phillips said.
He singled out Priester — a 5-foot-9 cornerback from Ulmer, S.C., who already has a reputation as one of the fastest Cats — as particularly impressive.
“Although his demeanor and his mannerisms kill me — he’s just so cool,” Phillips said. “But who else was like that? (Former UK cornerback) Trevard Lindley. I don’t care as long as you’re making plays.”[/QUOTE]

Playing with a young secondary in the SEC; the Wildcats will surely be tested. I can remember watching UK play South Carolina and it seemed the Ole’ Ball Coach wasn’t shy about going after our less experienced players and I’m sure this year will not be any different.
