Kentucky announced today that Elliott Porter has signed with the Cats.
“I’m excited about getting a player of this quality at this time of year, especially a defensive lineman in August,” Coach Joker Phillips said. “Elliott is a big, strong physical guy who plays hard and takes control of his position. He’s a great kid, really smart and has great character. I’m excited to have him join our football family.”

Porter should help fill some of the void lost with the ineligibility of Mister Cobble. He received All-American Honors at Archbishop High School in Waggaman, La. and is ranked No. 24 by Rivals and 35 by Scout at the position of Defensive Tackle.
After signing with LSU and working out in Baton Rouge all summer, Porter was told at the last minute that he would not be joining the Tigers this fall. He was given the option of gray shirting, but that wasn’t what Porter wanted.
After a couple of whirlwind weeks that featured scholarship offers from numerous schools, including visits to UK, Oregon and Texas A&M, Porter cast his lot with the Cats.
“Kentucky has a really good coaching staff,” said Porter, when asked of his decision. “I loved the school and the players (when I visited). There’s a family atmosphere here.”
As a junior, Porter had 85 tackles, 20 for loss and 11 sacks. In an injury shortened senior year, he had 65 tackles, missing the first five games. Porter began practice with Kentucky on Monday afternoon.
