Rivals.com has just released it’s latest Power Rankings and one of our own broke into the top 10 Running Backs. After Derrick Locke rushed for over 100 yards against Florida, he moves up 5 spots from number 15 (where he’s been the first 3 weeks) to number 10 in the nation.

John Clay had reported earlier how rare 100-yard games are for UK Running Backs (here)
Locke is already in the top 10 all-time for UK Running Backs with four 100-yard games and we’re only four games in. Artose Pinner holds the #1 spot with 8 games in a season with 100 yards or more (I think Derrick can beat that). Locke is one of only four UK Running Backs in history with over 100 yards rushing against Florida.

For his career, Locke is up to 2,206 yards rushing (475 this year); 635 yards receiving (70 this year); and 1,195 yards on Kick Returns (140 this year). That’s an unbelievable 4,036 all-purpose yards for his career (685 this year – he was #2 in the SEC last year). He has 436 rushing attempts (84 this year) and 17 rushing TDs (5 this year).(source) Possibly the most shocking statistic? Not one fumble. I have a feeling Derrick Locke has only begun his venture into the history books, and it’s going to be a special year. Go Cats!
