UK Football Fan Survey: What Do UK Fans Expect From The 2010 Season?

At the beginning of the season, the “Team Speed Kills” blog, surveyed Kentucky football fans to see how they thought this season would progress. There was only a small number of fans that responded, but after looking at the results, I would say it’s a fair representation of UK Football fans. (They inferred that UK fans didn’t care that much about football and basketball would have gotten a much better response)

In one of the surveys, Team Speed Kills asked how many games Mike Hartline would start. It seems they also knew he would be the starter, but there was a good chance he might not make it through the entire season.

Here’s how UK fans responded…
Even before Mike Hartline was officially named the starter for Kentucky, he was a divisive figure among those who voted in the poll. About a third each predict Hartline will start seven, more than seven or fewer than seven games. Only the “under” has more than five percentage points separating it from an even third, and that’s by a narrow margin. Whether this is more a symptom of the revolving door at quarterback for Kentucky or a lack of faith in Hartline isn’t clear.
I would say that not much has changed. This will make Hartline’s fifth start of this season. Hartline managed to win over a lot of the Newton supporters during the first three games, but then lost them against Florida.

It’s that old adage, it takes ten rights to make up one wrong. It’s even debatable he made a wrong against Florida, but making three yard check offs when you need fifteen for a first down is a reoccurring them in the Hartline era.

Team Speed Kills also asked “how many SEC wins will UK have?”.

Here’s how UK fans responded…
Two or three SEC wins, meanwhile, seems to be the consensus. The fact that the number of folks expecting Kentucky to have three or more league victories (62 percent) is comparable to those expecting a 6-6 record or better (55 percent) isn’t really surprising, except that it might point toward questions about whether the Wildcats can defeat Louisville. Again, though, there’s a close competition here between two league victories and three.
You can read the complete article here..

Two or three SEC wins seems to be the “UK standard” and is probably why it received a combined 81% of the vote. This has to make you think.. are we really getting better? Are we really improving if the SEC as a whole also improves?
