Auburn at Kentucky. I feel like every game is a must win now, but for some reason I can’t get up for this game. The way the Cats have played the last couple of weeks makes me worry that this one could get ugly quickly. Which is why I am excited about the chili.

I set my alarm for 9 this morning to get up and fix chili for the tailgate today. We have a couple of special guests at our little get together today, so I had to fix a gallon of the good stuff. I started with 14 cups of water. During the 10 minutes it took to boil, I started to think about the first 10 minutes of the game today. The Cats have to be boiling right from the start. Randall Cobb has been pissed for a week now, and hopefully he has everyone in the locker room pissed as well. If it takes 10 minutes for Kentucky to get going today, it could be a looong day in Commonwealth, and there won’t be any reason to take the next step.
The water is boiling, so it is time to put in the ingredients. Now I am not like Chef Ramsey or anything, so I am not going to be making anything from scratch. I buy “Darn Good” Chili Mix. It comes in a package and I like it because you can just pour it in. If the Cats set the tone early, the Cats can start “pouring” in their offense versus an Auburn defense that has struggled on the road. A big dose of Locke, Cobb, and Matthews could be the perfect mixture for an upset if everything is “whisking” in at the right time. With my chili, I have to set and stir the pot, and make sure everything is mixing the right way. Joker Phillips and Randy Sanders need to make sure and mix it up today and not be so transparent with their play calling.
I like my chili hot, so I throw in some Jalapeño Peppers to give that zing when you eat it. The defense needs to add that zing to Commonwealth Stadium today. If they can even come close to controlling Cam Newton, and give the offense the chance to win the game, then it could be a goal post kind of day we will never forget. If the defense doesn’t decide to play, and looks like they can’t stop the laptop thief, then the pot will be boiling over and it will be time to pour everything out and start over.
Now it is time to let my chili cook, for 20-25 minutes. As always, the 3rd quarter at Commonwealth is a wait and see kind of quarter. If the Cats come out of the half and are focused and not down by more than 2 touchdowns, then there will be a buzz in the stadium of possibly pulling the unthinkable. My chili is bubbling a little as it cooks, and this is how the fans will be, just waiting to explode. If the Cats are in it, and who knows if they will be or not, it will be Mike Hartline time in the 3rd. This is the quarter, which I call the moving quarter, in which he will have to show if he is a SEC QB. All the defensive adjustments will be made and if Mike can adjust and run the offense efficiently, then we could be having some fun today.
Looks like my chili is about finished, time to put it in the fridge and start getting ready for the trek to Lexington. I haven’t been real excited for the game this week, but after making this chili I am pretty fired up. I hope the Cats play as well as my chili tastes. Lets just hope the aftermath of the chili and the game isn’t as bad as I think it will be. Go Cats!!
