Joker Phillips reported Wednesday that Derrick Locke is still day to day right now and his dual stingers have not improved.
Locke out of the line up on Saturday could be a major blow to the Cats. To date, he has accounted for 3 out of every 10 yards gained by the Kentucky offense and leads the team in all purpose yards with 1,048 or 174.7 per game.

“He’ll be in the hotel on Friday night. We’ll take him to the hotel and he’ll be part of the 70 that travels. We’ll see how he feels on Saturday morning because (feeling) could come back at any moment, any day, anytime. It could be this afternoon, a week and a half, two weeks, who knows. But we’ve got to put him on the bus.”
Yesterday Locke was listed as doubtful. The good news is that UK has options to try and fill the void of the player who ranks seventh in the nation in total yardage.
Look for Donald Russell to be the work horse. After Locke went down in the Auburn game, Russell gained 51 total yards, 32 on the ground and 19 through the air.
The other option, Mr. Everything out of the WildCobb. Randall Cobb is averaging 7.0 yards per carry this season. The WildCobb places the ball in one of our best players hands and the options are almost endless.
Phillips did say that he would wait until game day to make a final determination on Locke’s status.
Go Cats!!!
