On a weekend when the Cats need an easy stroll in the park, pay out a couple of hundred thousand, for sure, win, in comes Southern Charleston.
The last five weeks have seen a lot of lows with one major high. the highlight, a win over South Carolina. The disappointments, too numerous to list and too painful to recall.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
That all ends this weekend as the Cats hit the gridiron early on Saturday for a game where 75% of the stands will be empty by the end of the third quarter, and yes Big blue Nation, I’m throwing a zinger at US, the fan.
With that said and out of the way, here are some “Charleston Southern Quick hit” facts of possible interest:
[LIST]
[*]Member of the Big South conference which features other power houses like Liberty, Stony Brook, Coastal Carolina and that good old Gardner-Webb (Remember them? Ughh, that hurt).
[*]They boast an impressive 2-6 (0-4) record, including wins against North Greenville and Mars Hill, two High School programs out of Arkansas and North Dakota, respectively.
[*]Their mascot is the Buccaneer…
[*]Located in North Charleston, S.C. and is the second team UK will play out of South Carolina. UK should end this season 2-0 against teams from SC.
[*]Their strength, on the field, would be the passing game. An area that has recently been hurt due to the injury to their starting QB AJ Tuscano. The new QB is Andrew Trudnowski. Total, CSU have accumulated 1,990 yards in the air over their first 8 games. For the season, they have accumulated a total of 11 TD’s through the air.
[*]Their weakness – an inability to stop the run. Opponents are averaging over 197 yards per game. That means Derick Locke and the entire run game of UK should have a field day.
[*]Trudnowski is a big QB at 6-4, 220 lbs and is a pocket passer only with little mobility. He has accumulated 875 yards on 75-144 passes and has 6 TD’s all while throwing 6 interceptions.
[*]Gerald Stevenson is their top receiver, accumulating 643 yards on 43 receptions. his long was an impressive 69 yarder. he is also their second leading rusher accumulating 161 yards on 33 carries.
[*]The top rusher is DeMarcus (No kin to Boogie) Moon. Moon has 335 total yards on 95 attempts.
[*]The University was founded in 1964 as Baptist College and has a total enrollment around 3,200 students, equal to the amount in English 101 on Monday mornings at UK.
[*]They opened the 2009 season against the Florida Gators in a 62-3 blow out. Expect something similar at commonwealth later today.

This game will be absolutely ugly, for the Buccaneers. There’s not one category where the Cats don’t have the advantage. From QB to RB to WR to O-line to the D-Line, oh heck, every spot.
Cats win big, 56-7, as they should, and create lots of playing time for Newton, Mossokowski and all the back ups.
Here is the prediction from WhatIfSports.com…
Not really sure why they would predict SCU with 8 points, but i guess a 2-point conversion is never out of the picture.
Just about every category is dominated by Kentucky, as it should be on the field. the unfortunate news is that the game is on pay per view only, as of this moment.
Nation of Blue will, as always, look for a live feed to allow you to watch the game via N of B so be sure and check back later to see if we were successful.
Enjoy the game and Go Cats!!!
