Blue Beats White 31-28

The Blue, which consisted of the 2nd team, beat the White 31-28, in front of 1000 die hards at Commonwealth Stadium today.

The Blue was spotted 14 points from the get-go, and they jumped out quickly with a 54 yard touchdown pass from Maxwell Smith to EJ Fields to make it 21-0.

On the next possession for the White Team, Morgan Newton hooked up with Matt Roark for a 38 yard completion and then Raymond Sanders ran 28 yards for a touchdown to make the score 21-7.

There wasn’t any more scoring until the 2nd quarter when Josh Gibbs intercepted Morgan Newton and scampered 33 yards for the touchdown and the Blue extended their lead to 28-7, which was all the scoring in the 1st half.

The 2nd half saw the White team even things up with 3 straight touchdowns, beginning with 2 td passes from Newton to Brian Adams.

The touchdown passes covered 2 and 34 yards and brought the score to 28-21 by the end of the 3rd.

Newton hit EJ Fields from 2 yards out to tie the score up with 3:34 left in the game.

The Blue Team ended up winning on a 38 yard field goal by Joe Mansour with 47 seconds left and that finished up the scoring for both teams.

A couple of notes from the game is there were a lot of drops by the receivers and will need to improve.

Newton was said to have improved, but had one really bad pass intercepted for a touchdown.

The defense had its moments and was said to look really rough early on, but seemed to improve and get more comfortable in the 2nd half.

This team will definitely be a work in progress and at this point a .500 season will exceed my expectations.
