The Kentucky football team hosted its second skills camp of the summer Friday night, and once again, many players impressed others with their showcase.
One of the more impressive athletes in the combine drills happened to DuPont Manual’s cornerback, Percy Minor.
Minor, a rising senior, posted a shuttle run of 4.15 seconds, a time that is quite ridiculous if you are not aware of typical times; the defensive back also posted a vertical jump of 33″.
And it is no surprise that Minor compliments his speed as his biggest asset.
“My speed and my aggressiveness are the best things to my game right now.”
As expected, Minor spoke positively of his camp experience.
“I thought I did really well. The coaches taught us some great drills and I think I got a lot better.”
As he also notes, the coaches wanted to see how fast the respective players caught on to the drills at hand. “They want to see who can respond to the drills the best,” he said.
Standing at 5-foot-10, Minor has yet to receive an offer, but he has several teams recruiting him, and he even has a list of teams in order right now.
Kentucky, Akron, Ball State, Illinois, and Tennessee-Martin are the teams Minor is looking hard at right now, and he hopes to come away with an offer soon.
Kentucky has shown him a lot attention, thus receiving the top spot on his premature list.
“Kentucky is the team recruiting me the hardest right now. They’re showing more interest than anyone, so I’m very interested.”
Being from Louisville, many would assume Minor grew up a fan of the Cardinals; however, he is firm in saying that he does not pay quality attention to collegiate athletics.
“I’m more of an NFL guy, so I never really got caught up in that,” he explained.
Manual also already has a player committed to Kentucky in Thomas Chapman. Like his teammate Quintez Sutton, Chapman is also going to have a big impact on where Minor goes to school.
“Yeah, Thomas is going to have a big impact on me. I wouldn’t mind having some friends around.”
It is early in the summer, and with that, more camps are on the horizon for the speedster on the corner.
Like his peers, Minor has a busy summer ahead of him with camps and visits.
“I’m going to Illinois, Cincinnati, and I’m planning on going to UK again with Thomas soon,” he said excitedly. “I also plan on going to Akron and Ball State.”
It’s going to be a busy summer for Percy Minor, so be sure to stay tuned.
