UK Men’s Basketball Will Make Almost $1,000,000 for Road Games in 2016-17

Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal has discovered that UK will make just under $1,000,000 for men’s basketball road games in 2016-17.

According to Tucker’s research the Wildcats will bank $950,000 for games at the Barclays Center, the Bahamas, the Champions Classic and the CBS Sports Classic next season.

Champions Classic vs. Michigan State at Madison Square Garden (N.Y.), Nov. 15: ESPN pays UK $250,000 (for each annual appearance during the three-year contract, which ends this year), plus 20 percent of any ticket revenue above $1 million. UK gets 50 complimentary tickets each year, plus an allotment of 4,000 tickets to sell to its fans.

CBS Sports Classic vs. North Carolina at MGM Grand Arena (Las Vegas), Dec. 17: CBS pays UK $225,000 (for each annual appearance during the three-year contract, which ends this year), while the four participating programs (UK, UNC, UCLA and Ohio State) will collectively provide CBS with a minimum of 600 complimentary tickets – including at least 360 in premium locations – and two complimentary in-arena hospitality suites.

Kentucky vs. Arizona State at Atlantis, Paradise Island (Bahamas), Nov. 28: Island Hotel Company Limited pays UK a $125,000 appearance fee and provides ground transportation, hotel accommodations and meals at the Atlantis resort for a traveling party of up to 60 people for four days and three nights. UK also gets 125 free premium tickets and can purchase 400 more.

Kentucky vs. Hofstra at Barclays Center (Brooklyn), Dec. 11: Nassau Events Center will pay UK a $350,000 appearance fee, from which UK will pay Hofstra its own $25,000 appearance fee. The Cats are responsible for their own travel, hotel and meals. UK gets 200 complimentary tickets, while Hofstra gets 100.
