Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski seemed to scold Oregon’s Dillon Brooks after the Ducks defeated the Blue Devils in the NCAA Tournament last night.
With Oregon leading 79-68 late, Brooks fired up at a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired and nailed it.
After the game, Coach K had some words for Brooks in the handshake line. Brooks appeared to apologize and accept the criticism.
In the postgame press conference, Brooks said Coach K told him he was “too good of a player to be showing off at the end.”
Krzyzewski then denied saying anything like that.
Q. Apparently after the game Dillon said that you told him that he was too good of a player to be showing off at the end like that —
MIKE KRZYZEWSKI: I didn’t say that.
Q. He said of you that you were right.
MIKE KRZYZEWSKI: You can say whatever you want. Dillon Brooks is a hell of a player. I said, “You’re a terrific player.” And you can take whatever he said and then go with it, all right?
Coach K coaches Grayson Allen, who has been under scrutiny all season for tripping opposing players and brushed off a postgame hug from an Oregon player after last night’s game.
