After a couple of great days of August practice for the Kentucky football team, Joker Phillips and his staff faced a couple of tough subjects on Wednesday.
Qua Huzzie, a sophomore linebacker, has opted to transfer out of Kentucky and look at different opportunities at other schools. Josh Gibbs, a senior safety, has also chose to leave the team, but he will give up football altogether.
Here is what Phillips had to say in regards to the news:
[QUOTE]“It’s football we understand that, those things happen,” Phillips said. “We wish those two guys well.”
Phillips said Huzzie’s decision to transfer was a surprise, and he didn’t know how long the linebacker had been considering the move.
“It always is (disappointing) when someone leaves the program,” Phillips said. “Qua has a special place in my heart because I had a chance to recruit him, I’ve known his family for a long time.”

As if it wasn’t bad enough, star offensive lineman Stuart Hines suffered a sprained knee in practice and will be sidelined for a decent amount of time. However, Joker is optimistic that his leader will be ready to go before Kentucky’s opening game against Western Kentucky.
Looking on the bright side, the exiting of Huzzie and Gibbs will add a couple more scholarships for the Class of 2012 to occupy.
