Ok, I thought I would talk a little about new defensive coordinatoor Rick Minter’s quote that Joker Phillips spoke of today at the Kentucky Football Alumni Luncheon in Louisville.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Joker was in the context of how Kentucky is just not a basketball school, but it is also a football school. He said that Minter said, and I quote:
“I’ve Never Seen 70,000 people in Rupp Arena.”
The first thought I had when I read this was for one thing, there are only 24,000 seats in Rupp Arena.
Am I stupid to think that Kentucky Basketball fans would fill up Commonwealth Stadium on a weekly basis to watch the Cats and any SEC opponent? I really don’t think I am.
Now I can understand if Cal’s Cats are playing Central Michigan or Jacksonville State that there might be just 50 or 60 thousand people, but Florida or Vandy?? My guess is more than 70,000.
Of course Commonwealth would have to have a dome, but you know what I am getting at.
Another thing that bothers me about Minter’s comment is why take a jab, playful or not, at the #1 institution in the state of Kentucky when your program is fighting for survival every year?
I think one of the @uknationofblue twitter followers said it best:

What do you think of Minter’s comment?
