Let’s Get Better

We’ve had several days and a long weekend to get us over the hangover, otherwise known as the football season opener. It wasn’t pretty as you know, and some may say the game left Kentucky fans with little hope for the season. On the bright side, a win is a win, no matter how pretty it is, so we will just have to accept it.

Now it is time to move on and look to the next opponent, Central Michigan. What are some specific areas you will be looking at for the Cats to improve in Saturday’s match-up?

Receivers – This is easy, dropped pass after dropped pass after dropped pass, CATCH THE BALL. It’s that simple. If Newton is going to lay it in your hands, you need to catch it, no excuses.

Newton – While we are on the subject, I will be looking for more confidence from Newton on Saturday. I don’t know about you, but several of his mistakes seem to be due to nerves and lack of confidence. It seemed that by the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] quarter when he made that big run and finally completed a pass for a TD, he had some of his swag back.

Offensive Line – What happened, I thought this was supposed to be our strength? If they don’t give Newton the protection he needs, this could be a long season.

More Josh Clemons – This highly touted freshman has Wildcat fans clamoring for more, and was a bit of a bright spot in last Thursday’s game. I’d like to see if my new favorite player gets more touches, how about you?

Crowd – If you went to the game in Nashville, congratulations, you are more than dedicated. Unfortunately not many fans attended, which couldn’t have been helpful to the boys in blue. Now this Saturday is Kentucky’s first home game, yet the game time is dreadful….and against a lacking opponent. I am interested to see how the crowd responds, will they show?

These are the key aspects I will be watching for Saturday, what about you?
