No one knew what was going to happen today with Tennessee in Commonwealth Stadium at the quarterback position.
Everyone thought Maxwell Smith would start behind center since he was taking all the reps in warmups.
He didn’t start.
Matt Roark, yes Matt Roark, came out as the Kentucky signal caller and promptly led the Wildcats down the field on a 15 play 62 yard drive which ended in a Craig McIntosh field goal to take a 3-0 lead with 4:46 left in the 1st quarter.
The defense took over from there as Danny Trevathan and company dominated the UT offense as they only had one attempt to score and that was an ugly 46 yard fg try that was missed.
The Kentucky defense looks to have the ability to shut out the Vols, but if the Cats don’t find a way to develop some type of passing game, it could be another heartbreaking loss added to the streak.
What did you think of the first half? Do the Cats have a shot to break the streak?
