Carolina Receiver has Close Relationship With John Wall

Scholarship offers have been flying out to a numerous amount of juniors throughout the past few weeks, and Kentucky has not been shy. Like other schools, they have also extended plenty of offers.

No recruit has been as hot as North Carolina receiver Corey Cooper, a junior at Millbrook High School out of Raleigh.

Within the past few days, Cooper has reeled in offers from Illinois and Oklahoma State, along with Kentucky. He also holds offers from Tulsa, NC State, North Carolina, and Iowa State.

Kentucky isn’t necessarily known for its football players, but Cooper is very familiar with a recent basketball star from the Raleigh area.

“I’m pretty close friends with John Wall,” Cooper began. “He always talks about how crazy the fans are and it is just a real place. I want to learn more.”

Cooper said he walks to Wall’s home all the time. The two are very close. The former Kentucky star has played a big part in the premature interest thus far.

“John has talked about Kentucky, but I don’t really know that much about it. I want to learn more. I will definitely be visiting sometime.”

The 6-foot play-maker will not be able to attend Kentucky’s Junior Day this weekend because of prior engagements, but a visit will be made in the spring or summer.

“I’m going to Maryland this weekend and Clemson the next, so I’m full right now.”

While the offer from Kentucky has been recent, Cooper considers the Cats to be recruiting him hard compared to others.

“I would say Kentucky is right up there. They are probably recruiting me third hardest. Iowa State and Oklahoma State are first and second.”

However, he assured that there is no leaders to this point, and there is plenty of time to get in on his recruitment. He expects to make a decision very late.

“I want to make my decision after my season. I want to take my time and see what happens.”

Kentucky could contend in the end for his services. After all, early playing time is big to Cooper, and the receiving-group at UK has under-performed the past few years.

“Playing time is big for me. I want to play,” he commented. “Of course, academics are important and I want to be treated well, too.”

According to John Wall, Cooper will be treated very well with the fans in Lexington. This kid is definitely a talent to keep an eye on.
