On the eve of Kentucky’s second Junior Day, several 2013 recruits will travel to Lexington to tour campus and receive further answers regarding the University of Kentucky.
Tight-ends have not made much noise in the recent seasons, and with a need for the position in a few years, Greg Hart (Class of 2012, Archbishop Alter High School, Ohio) could be a hot-topic amongst the coaches this weekend.
There is obviously a fair amount of interest from the UK staff, as Kentucky was the first school to offer the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Kettering, Ohio product. That alone means something to Hart.
“I wouldn’t say I have nay favorites, but Kentucky was my first offer, and that means a lot,” he began. “It’s relieving to have a nice SEC offer, and Coach [Joker] Phillips is a great guy.”
“Kentucky really seems interested in me, especially with my first offer. They stay in contact very well. I feel like they are very high on me, and I think they believe in me.”
The coaching staff had an opportunity to see Hart at camp last summer, and while he has been to campus before, Hart is looking forward to seeing more of what Kentucky offers.
“I’m looking forward to seeing campus and everything. I want to learn more about the university and the program.”
Several coaches have had contact with the tight-end, but two main people have been involved with his recruitment.
“Coach [Rick] Minter is my recruiting coach, but I have had some other coaches come up to my school,” Hart explained. “Coach Phillips has come to school before, too. I have spent a lot of time speaking with him.”
Hart also holds offers from Indiana and Ohio, but more are on the horizon for the down-field receiving threat. Illinois and Northwestern are both close to offering, too, and Pittsburgh and West Virginia are others that have expressed interest.
After this weekend’s visit, Hart will advance to attend spring practices at Illinois (March 7th) and Northwestern (March 10th). It is probable that he could leave both campuses with firm offers.
Stay tuned for more regarding Hart’s visit for Junior Day later in the weekend.
