I have been thinking about doing a post after each game that discusses the worst performance either statistically by the team, or by a player. Free throw shooting in the 2nd half wins the Cat Litter Award for this week. I would have never thought that this would have been a candidate in the first half. The Cats shot 13-14 for 92.9% in the first stanza. After halftime the Cats couldn’t buy one at the line. They shot a frosty 4-11 for 36.4%. Now I know the game was over at halftime, and it really didn’t mean much that we missed them. I am worried about the future. One example will be Tuesday when we go on the road to play South Carolina. Here are our last 5 games shooting free throws by half:
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

Arkansas F Throw % 1st Half: 13-14 92.9% 2nd Half: 4-11 36.4% Game: 68.0%

Auburn F Throw % 1st Half: 16-27 59.3% 2nd Half: 7-8 87.5% Game: 65.7%

Florida F Throw % 1st Half: 4-5 80.0% 2nd Half: 6-8 75.0% Game: 76.9%

Georgia F Throw % 1st Half: 10-18 55.6% 2nd Half: 12-15 80.0% Game: 66.7%

Louisville F Throw % 1st Half: 6-12 50.0% 2nd Half: 15-22 68.2% Game: 61.8%
Now hopefully we can put 2 halves together at the free throw line vs. USC and get another big SEC road win. I really don’t think it will come down to free throws, but I know there will be a game down the road free throws will decide the game. Free throws are like walks in baseball and missed field goals at Commonwealth Stadium;they cost you ballgames!
