I know what you’re thinking. Yes, I am also a Kentucky fan. I love the Cats and I hope they never lose again. Ever. I read a post earlier by my buddy Scott that got me thinking. Man, are we cocky or what?
Just off a wonderful ride down the road to the NIT. Last season was so bad that they wouldn’t even let Kentucky play a tournament game in Rupp Arena, they had to go to Memorial Coliseum. Now we’re #1 and 19-0. I love fans and they make the game what it is. If there was any fanbase that could turn a season around, positive or negative, it is Kentucky. Our fans live for the Blue. Sometimes they just go a little too far. Cough, Cough, Scott.
I was really worried when the fans were so excited for the start of the season. If the Cats came out and lost a couple early it could have been the end of the world for Cats Fans. Expectations were so high that the fans would have wilted, especially after last season. I for one believe that our fanbase better not get too high during this streak, because a big momentum shift could happen if we lose. The way we sit in Rupp Arena effects the outcome of games. If we yell for a player to shoot, circa 2008-09, than the Coach tells us not to do that. Emotions change games. A loss can’t be the end of the world. Losses help you grow, hence why Coach Calipari says our record is 11-8. If we finally lose, take it in stride, learn from it and get better.
Let’s everyone keep their heads, enjoy the games, and please don’t think that we will dominate the rest of the SEC schedule. We still have @ USC, @ Vanderbilt, @ Mississippi St, and @ Tennessee. If we win all of those games, I will write my own letter to every Top 25 team.
