It took the National Media almost 22 games to figure out that DeMarcus Cousins is the best player on our team. Now they are talking of Wall being 1 and Cousins being 2 in the NBA draft, or vice versa. He is a man-child that has owned the SEC freshman of the week award and when he didn’t win it, a teammate has or they just got tired of giving it to Boogie. I wonder if we are as good as we are if DeMarcus Cousins is not on this team? Lets see what we would miss:

Over the last couple of years, Kentucky basketball had been looked upon as soft. They had been beaten down with practices before games and all out verbal warfare. This year we have swagger. We walk the walk and talk the talk. DeMarcus Cousins is the swagger that leads the swagger of the team. He is cocky, he is rough, and he isn’t scared of anything. We havent had a player like that in a while. Someone that will be flamboyant and loud in his actions. The best example of Cousins winning a game just with his swagger is when he dominated Vandy in the first 5 minutes of the game. He got a nice little “shot” in on them and totally set the tone for the rest of the game. He punched them in the mouth and the Commodores folded tent. They were beat in the first 5 minutes of the game. !

He wants the ball. When the game is on the line he is screaming for the basketball. Down the stretch, when we needed a basket at South Carolina, we went to Boogie. He lives to get the basketball deep in the paint and shove it down your throat. Coach Cal has already shown who he is going to when his team needs a bucket. I never have any complaints when he calls Cousins #.

You get an automatic double double every night. Most of the time he is close to getting it in the first half.

The hardest part about knowing that he is our best player is the National Media doesn’t give him enough respect. They either try to make him out to be a goon, like Tim Brando and Seth Davis, or they just mention his name at the end of the highlights after talking about John Wall for 3 minutes. For example, last night after the Ole Miss game, ESPN talked about Wall the entire hightlight and then at the end said,”And DeMarcus Cousins also had a double double.”

Last but not least, when John Calipari says that Cousins is the best center he has ever coached. Period. NBA, UMass, and Memphis. He is the best.
Now you have been educated enough to answer when asked this question,”Who do you think is National Player of the Year?” I think there is only 1 answer. A Kentucky Wildcat named……. Boogie.
