They talk about the Cats all the time now. It could be good. It could be bad. I guess any talk is good talk when ESPN is talking about you. The Worldwide Leader in Sports. Well , last night was another story.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]What happened last night was inexcusable. George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth, the two basketball powerhouses, pre-empted Alabama @ Kentucky last night on ESPNU. Now, let me get this straight, why didn’t the “Worldwide Leader in Sports” figure out that they should have moved the 1st half of a SEC game involving the #2 team in the nation to one of their other 50 networks? ESPN Classic, ESPNNews, and ESPN360 would have sufficed to move the game for a temporary amount of time until the Colonial Athletic Conference game was over. You know if it was an ACC game with Duke or even Wake Forest they would have moved it over to another channel.
Later on in the game, the announcers were talking about what Kentucky had to do to be a National contender. Huh, what? I think Kentucky is #2 in the country at this time and I think would make the Wildcats already a national contender!!
ESPNU is the bottom of the barrel for the family of networks that Disney has to offer. The coverage is rinky dink and they really need to step up their game. If I am Mitch Barnhart and Coach Cal I would really rethink ever letting ESPN carry our games on the Usuck.
I hope we never play on ESPNU again. Last night was enough. I miss Tom Hammonds and Larry Conley. Why can’t Kentucky just make their own network like the Yankees did? We win championships every year they do anyway!!
Do you think I am crazy, or is ESPN out to get us?
