The trip from Knoxville to Athens was like going from the Sahara to the Amazon for the Kentucky Wildcats. In their latest win against Georgia the Wildcats shot 33%, or 8-24 from the 3-point line and erased any hopes Georgia may have had of using the zone defense against the Cats. Yet against Tennessee the Wildcats shot only 9%, or 2-22 from behind the line. In order to have any chance at a deep run, the Wildcats will have to figure out how to steady the moving target and consistently hit the 3 pointer.

Now, 8-24 isn’t the hottest 3-point shooting in the nation, not by any stretch of the imagination. It was hot for the Wildcats and more than enough to help propel them through the rest of the season. The question is can they do it consistently for the remainder of the year? Actually, can John Wall and Darnell Dodson do it for the rest of the year with occassional contributions from Patrick Patterson? Those are the 3 players that have to produce from behind the arc, stretch the defense and get the opponent out of the zone defense.
The next game is the last of the regular season and Florida will be hungry for an upset at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats will have to hit some 3’s to stop that upset run, the question is how many?
