What to Expect During UK Practice

The Wildcats will have their practice televised tomorrow from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on ESPNU, with all 30 NBA teams in the building, here is what you can expect…

  • Practice will start off with a drill called “Perfection”
    • Will consist of tons of lay-ups and running up and down the court
    • Cal uses this drill as a way to gauge the energy and prepardness of the team at the start of the practice.
  • No drill will be designed to show a players weaknesses, only their strong suits.
    • Expect ton of encouragment from Cal
    • Every NBA team is in the building tomorrow…everyone will show what they can do
  • Frequent shooting drills
    • The team is still improving, must take shots
  • Controlled 2 v 2, 3 v 3, 4 v 4, 5 v 5 situations
    • Every drill will give the offense an advantage
    • Every drill will be a competition, loser runs
  • High energy from everyone involved
    • First time the Cats are on TV, want to make an impression
  • Alex Poythress still knocking the rust off while coming back from the ACL injury
    • He will be explosive but not polished
  • Tyler Ulis running the show
    • His team will win in almost every situation
  • There will be “Helmet Award” given out.
    • When a player gets dunked on, you will hear the word helmet come out of Assistant Coach John Robic’s mouth. It is coming so get ready.
  • Fast paced, with little water breaks

I will be posting a recap and review of practice with performance grades for key players following the broadcast. It will also be a topic on this week’s Nameless Sports Podcast that gets released every Wednesday morning. Subscribe now!
